Algebra 1 - Wednesday 8/23 through Tuesday 8/29

We started baseline testing Wednesday and will continue Friday.  If need be we will go into Tuesday, but since several finished on the first day so this is unlikely.


  • Note to my 5B class:  I apologize to my 5B class because there was a miscommunication between me and our testing coordinator.  She has opened the baseline for all that submitted it and we will continue Friday.  What we worked on was the whole thing (not just Section 1), so we have more time.

Wednesday I reviewed all that should have already been turned in and what everyone should be working on.  It seems some have done it all and others have lost their way.  

Here is the full list of things that you need to be continuing to work on if not done.

  1. MATHXL - There are two assignments.  I am not adding any this week because some students aren't in MATHXL yet.  Check every other day and complete the two assignments as soon as you find they are there for you. 
  2. Algebra Nation - You should have completed the "Algebra Nation On Ramp to Algebra" diagnostic and then started the videos / practice to review and continue ramping up.  ("Let's go" button after finishing the diagnostic)  Each week through Open house (Sept 5th) I will put in a grade based on what you have done to progress yourself to completing the On Ramp.  Work 30 minutes a day on average and you will get there.
  3. Worksheets for topics in Algebra Nation - T1, T2, T3 and T4.  Make sure you have them all completed before Tuesday 8/29.  Turn in T3 and T4 only.  Make sure if you have questions you circle the confusing part and write the question. 


If all goes according to plan we will work on Topic 5 (T5) Section 1 in Algebra Nation next Tuesday.

Bring your Algebra Nation workbook every day to class.  They were distributed to half of you today and the rest will be on Friday.

MJII Advanced - Plan for last 2 weeks of school

Monday 5/21 - Continue our exponent rules and practice.  Classwork Exponent worksheets 5 & 6 (7 if we have time). Homelearning:   Exponent worksheet #7 Don't forget the last blue tab extra credit assignment is only available to complete through May 25th!!!  Wednesday 5/23 - Exponent Quiz followed by Algebra Nation Ramp up short diagnostic.... Are you ready??? Friday 5/25 (There will be a substitute).  Half of the class will be working on Algebra Nation proficiency following the ramp up.... work your way up.  Other half - SumDog competition online.  Wednesday 5/30 - Animal Kingdom field trip.   Anyone present will work on their ramp up work in Algebra Nation. Friday 6/1 - Last day of school - Giant Jenga and the Lipsync competition in the Auditorium.
